Chia's Breakfast and lunch Counter in Golden

And the Grub Chub Award goes to...

Chia Burger – ground beef and smoked bacon patty with gruyere, red onion marmalade, garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato & Hotchup

Hold on a minute wha wha what?

I said "Chia Burger – ground beef and smoked bacon patty with gruyere, red onion marmalade, garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato & Hotchup"

Ok Drew and I had lunch there Tuesday which also was their opening day. Holy moly it was awesome. Besides the amazing burger we also had a Chicago Beef with home made giardiniera which was de-frickin-licious.

Eric and Jamie really know their stuff they are both well trained chefs so these guys making sandwiches is like Steve Jobs making calculators. They are way better then they need to be and that's the way I like it. You have got to give this place a try. - Shannon

P.S. The Chicago Beef is a serious Grub Chub but the Burger is a Raging Grub Chub.

We may have to change the name from Grub Chub to Grub Chia-b

Breakfast

My wife has been on a huevo rancheros kick since she had it at The Fat Cat Cafe in Grand Lake. By the way, The Fat Cat is the only place we go for breakfast in Grand Lake. Every dish is consistently good and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. And if you're nice to Sally (who is wonderful) she might share some of her traditional homemade English scones with you. You'll be lucky if she does!

Anyway, it inspired me to make my own version with whatever leftovers I had. This version has 2 corn tortillas filled with refried beans, cheese, taco-seasoned ground beef, topped with a 3 egg omelette, more cheese and enchilada sauce. Yum! -- Drew

Sams No. 3

I took a couple friends to Sam's No. 3 for lunch on Wednesday (the Curtis St location). I've never been there, but I had driven by their Aurora location about 1,000 times and was always curious, so I was all in.

"Sam's No. 3™ was the third of five Coney Islands opened by Sam Armatas throughout the 1920's. It was located at 1527 Curtis Street in the heart of downtown Denver.

On Sept. 28th, 1998, Sam's son Spero and grandsons Sam, Alex, and Patrick reestablished his most famous of Coney Islands, Sam's No. 3™. "The Boys" have made a promise to each other to continue the excellent food quality and warm atmosphere started by "Mr. Sam" more than 75 years ago!"

Anyplace that serves breakfast all day is alright in my book. I can't pass up a good breakfast skillet. We were all happy with our choices. Steve had the Greek Burrito, Donna had the Yukon skillet and I had the Kitchen Sink Skillet. I didn't have to add any condiments at all. No salt, hot sauce or anything. That's a great indication that there is someone pretty skilled back in the kitchen.

The service was fine. Pretty abrupt, diner-style service, but she got everything right so no complaints.

If you're looking for a good, big breakfast, I would definitely recommend Sam's No. 3. I imagine their sandwiches and burgers are pretty darn good, too. -- Drew

This was breakfast last weekend. It's a perfect example of the more simple the recipe the more important good ingredients are. Free Range Eggs from Whole foods and fresh baked French Bread, Sea Salt and Tri-Colored fresh ground pepper from Penzey's Spices. The coffee was fresh ground Kenyan coffee. It was easy and simple but delicious. - Shannon - Grubizle Fo Shizle
