Swardfish is the perfect fish on the grill. It has the consistency of chicken and great mild fish flavor. I marinate mine in a home made mojo de ajo (roasted garlic oil) - Shannon

Linger
A couple friends joined me for lunch at Linger today. We all loved the food! I've heard about this place, but don't get to this side of town that often, so had to do it. Strong, but balanced flavors. Unusual combinations. Delicious sauces. Great stuff! I'll definitely be back. -- Drew

Rubio's
Shannon and I went to Rubio's yesterday and threw down some tacos! Shannon had been there a bunch of times, mostly in CA, but I had never been there. Everything was pretty solid, but the hit was definitely the Mango Habanero Mahi-Mahi tacos. Perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Wish I had some right now!
The "Original"
Carnitas, really good with the tomatillo salsa
Mango Habanero Mahi-Mahi, easily our favorite!

Portland has the best....
The best Thai I have ever had, hands down @ Pok Pok. You gotta try the Boars Collar. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this dish was. Super spicy but crazy good. The Pok Pok salad was stupid good and the Fish Sauce Wings will make you hate all other wings. While in this pacific northwest grub mecca I also experienced the best breakfast I have had in years at a place in Portland called Gravy. Without question it was the best corned beef hash I have ever come within a hundred miles of. Their biscuits and gravy were the best I have ever had outside of my house. Gravy is worth the trip alone. The other foody must have was Voodoo Doughnuts, you can't call yourself a foody until you have had a Bacon Maple bar from this house of sin. Portland has flat out blown me away. I had no idea how amazing this food town is. I can't wait to get back to this foody paradise. I must say however it would be nice to see the sun now and then but the food makes up for the lack of vitamin D.

Real eggs
Thanks to my friend and client, Brett, I was able to score some outstanding duck eggs last week. Needless to say, they're all gone. This is what a real egg should look and taste like! Thanks Brett! -- Drew

Hawaiian lunch in Colorado
Chicken fried rice with a fried egg Sriracha and Nori Komi ( sea weed sesame seed sprinkle) seriously awesome. The secret is my killer fried rice left over from last night. The secret to the best fried rice you have ever had is garlic butter and cold rice. It made me forget it's 32 degrees outside right now. Where's the Spam? - Shannon

Cabo Grub
This trip to Cabo was once again all about fishing but we did get to sample some of the local food. I have alway been a taco freak and I know a good one when I have it. These may have been the best I have ever had. If you are familiar with Cabo this little street taco stand is located behind the Giggling Marlin. It sits right next to a little street side bar which is the only place to sit. We got our tacos then went next door and ordered a couple of Pacificos. These Tacos blew me away. The Al Pastor wich you see below was unbelievable. The Chorizo was also great. I had about eight of them. I think they are about a buck a piece so it was so worth it. I have had enough of the touristy places down here, this is how I like to eat in Mexico.

Nibbles and Bits
Had 2 great meals this week.
First one was on Friday with my nephew, Trevor. We ate at Iwayama, one of my favorites! Chef Lee does great work (and I really like the new waitress... good move).

Yellowtail and Japanese Scallops (tasted like the ocean... YUM!)
Lee's should-be-famous Fish Tacos
Last night my wife and I were downtown for a conference and needed a place to eat. We ended up at eat! drink! and couldn't have been happier. The owners, Pollyanna and Chris, really have something special here. The Owen Roe "Mirth" Chardonnay was so good with dinner.
The best tomato basil bisque EVER (seriously, it's that good) with a Provence panini
An incredibly simple, and delicious, flatbread with burrata, prosciutto and garlic oil
I'll be back!! -- Drew
